How Did Generators Become What They Are Today?

We are a generator company here in Connecticut, so it is safe to assume that we are really into generators. We love the reliability and security they give our clients and we truly believe in their value. This business is our life, and we owe that to a lot of the men and women who contributed to the rise of the generator throughout history. Here is their story:

1831: Invention

Electromagnetic generators were invented by a British inventor named Michael Faraday. Faraday’s Law plays a major role in the way generators operate and we owe him a lot here at Cannondale Generators.

1920: Kohler Opens the Market

Kohler is the most trusted name in generators and they got their start way back in the roaring 20’s! They were originally invented to power their line of plumbing products, but the company quickly realized they had more to gain. The Kohler engine generator would soon be powering boats, businesses and homes around the world.

1929: Generators Head South

During Admiral Richard Byrd’s expedition to the South Pole, he brought along generators to power the mission at the bottom of the world.

1939: Generators at War

Kohler generators helped power Allied missions all over Europe, Africa and Asia. This reliable backup power saved thousands of lives during WWII.

1966: The Millionth

Kohler produced their one millionth engine which was a tremendous accomplishment for the company. Cannondale would not start selling their generators for another couple of decades!

1990: Cannondale Saves the Generator Industry
